Sunday 21st February, 6pm sermon by Ps Paul Bremner
Philippians 1:19-30 Questions:
- What is your own view of death? Are there any ways in which you are influenced by your culture’s perspective on it, rather than a Christian one?
- Paul clearly wrestled with the dilemma where he longed to die as it would be “far better” for him as it would bring him into the presence of Jesus Christ his Lord. However, it was for the greater good of those around him that he lived and continued his ministry. Death would bring him to Christ, life means he can preach Christ. Do you feel the same dilemma that Paul did? How is it comforting to live this way?
- Are you ready to die?
- We are constantly faced with a similar dilemma in different contexts. “Will I do what I want to do and what is best for me personally, or will I do what is more beneficial for those around me?” Where in your daily life are you facing this question at the minute? How are you answering it?
- The Gospel is always good news, but it is never easy news. How does the content of the Gospel motivate you to truly live it out daily? How are you going with this?
